ReTra Wire is a company specialising in the processing of wire rod for the production of industrial wire.
The company produces various types of wire for industrial applications and needed to upgrade its straightening line to improve efficiency and production management.

The challenge: boosting productivity and managing batches of 50 sticks

The customer needed to replace an old straightening machine with a production capacity of around 40 m/min.

In addition to increasing production speed, it was necessary to find a solution that would allow for the easy handling of partial batches of 50 straightened wire rods without slowing down the production process.

The preparation and packaging of the bundles was, in fact, a critical stage that resulted in machine downtime and a loss of efficiency.

The solution: RT206 annealed wire straightening machine with a dual-timer table

To meet the customer’s production requirements, Milani Wire Machinery supplied the RT206 straightening machine, designed to process annealed wire from 2 to 6 mm.

The machine has been configured with a dual-timer table, an accessory that allows the operator to:

  • create programmable partial batches
  • handle bundles of 50 rods
  • prepare the next batch without stopping the machine

This system enables smoother production management, whilst maintaining consistent straightening quality and length tolerances.

The results: production has doubled and efficiency has improved

Thanks to the new RT206 straightening machine, Trafileria ReTra has achieved tangible results:

  • production increased from 40 m/min to 80–90 m/min
  • a doubling of productivity
  • elimination of machine downtime for batch preparation
  • greater continuity in the production process

The system also ensures consistent straightening and precision cutting, which are fundamental to the quality of the finished product.

Future developments

In light of the results achieved, the company is considering replacing other obsolete equipment with new Milani machines, in order to further improve the efficiency of the production line.
